Sound familiar?
It is one of the worst internal battles I have ever had and almost always leads to being depressed no matter which way I chose to go with it. If you chose to go ahead and sit down, you beat yourself up mentally for days for not sticking to it and getting done what needs to get done. If you chose to keep going through the pain, then you crash really hard later and beat yourself up because now you have no energy to do any tasks the next day. It is a vicious cycle that can only be beat by being able to actually get up after taking a rest, but for some reason that takes more energy and self control than just about any other task we preform.
I can't tell you the number of times I have heard the phrase, "I am so worn down, but if I sit down, that's it." It is such a common thought process among chronic pain sufferers. The amount of Zen that is required to finish the task becomes astronomical and you use it all up on finishing the one task so you can't ration it for the rest. When you reach that point there really is nothing that can restore any of the missing Zen either. You either sit down and use the rest of the Zen just to not be empty the next day, or you keep going and risk starting your day with much less Zen than you usually do.
Usually posts like this would take you through ideas and suggestions on how to fix the problem or how to minimize it but honestly I really don't have any good suggestions. Personally I am the kind of guy who chooses to keep going when that comes up just because I hate feeling like I am have failed at the task I set forth for myself. I know that failure is a bad word to use for it but I can't get past it.
This post was actually my way of asking for your input. I am very curious what YOU do to deal with this issue. How do you have Zen the next day if you keep going, or how do you handle the frustration of having to stop if you sit down? Give us your tips and suggestions to help us and to help others. Tips and suggestions given may be passed on to the followers of our Facebook Page.
Thank you for your time and I hope today is a good day for you.
